F. John Matouk is the Founding Partner of Matouk Bassiouny and heads the firm's New York office, International Dispute Resolution Group, and hospitality sector. A New York-qualified attorney with more than 25 years of experience in the Middle East and North Africa, he advises clients on complex cross-border disputes, commercial arbitrations, and investment treaty arbitrations before local courts and major arbitral institutions. He also has extensive experience helping clients achieve commercial objectives through negotiated settlements.

• Successfully represented Uber in regulatory and contentious legal matters relating to its market entry and continuing operations in Egypt.
• Successfully represented Škoda Auto before Egyptian courts, consumer protection authorities, and competition authorities in a dispute valued at USD 225 million concerning the termination of a distributorship agreement.
• Successfully represented Sony Pictures in a complex debt recovery claim, resulting in a multi-million USD recovery and a landmark trademark enforcement action in Egypt.
• Successfully represented Union Fenosa Gas on Egyptian law aspects of a multi-billion-dollar dispute relating to a Natural Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement, including proceedings before CRCICA and ICSID.
• Successfully represented ArcelorMittal in the prosecution and subsequent amicable settlement of a USD 600 million investment dispute before ICSID against the Arab Republic of Egypt.
