In the M&A space, the firm worked on an on-going M&A transaction in connection with the proposed investment by Chongqing Sanfeng Environment Group and Suez (Shanghai) Investment through the acquisition of a 30% stake of Vietstar, with an existing waste processing plant and a waste-to-energy project in the pipeline. Waste-to-energy (WTE) is a new area in Vietnam. Implementing a waste to energy project in Vietnam involves navigating a novel and complex regulatory and legal framework. The project must comply with environmental regulations, energy laws, waste management policies, and land use regulations.
Project highlights include advising on one of the biggest construction projects in Vietnam recently. The firm acted as legal counsel to Coca-Cola in the establishment of its new factory in an industrial park in Long An Province, taking more than 19 hectares of land with a total investment of approximately $136 million.
