Peter Knobl

Peter has been a Partner at CERHA HEMPEL since 2005 and leads our banking, insurance supervision and capital markets regulatory practice. He trains bank managers and employees, supervisory board members of Austrian licenced and stock exchange operating companies on fitness and propriety issues. He advises Austrian licenced banks (Sis and LSIs), investment firms, insurances, corporate issuers, fund management companies and stock exchange operating companies on compliance and regulatory law queries and was involved in the establishment of the first bad bank in Austria.

• In 2024 Peter advised Agri Europe Cyprus Limited in connection with the intended acquisition of shares in the listed Addiko Bank AG conveying up to 26.991% voting rights by way of a private purchase and by launching a voluntary public partial tender offer and in connection with the competing offer by Nova Ljubljanska Banka d.d.
• He in 2024 and 2025 further advised the Paris headquarter of this CRR credit institution (high-impact LSI) on the partial transfer of an investment services business to the client resulting in the establishment of an Austrian branch of ODDO BHF SCA.
• In 2025, Peter advised Amazon Payments (UK) represented by Hogan Lovells (Frankfurt office) and Open Bank SA German branch on usury interest rates of consumer loans towards Austrian borrowers.
