IMMMA Advocates is a corporate law firm in Tanzania. The firm has three offices in Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Zanzibar. The firm is particularly strong in project development work but is also very active in financial and corporate work with an emphasis on refinancing and M&A transactions for clients related to financial services. 

 

Highlights  

IMMMA Advocates advised Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited on a merger transaction involving the transfer of shares between Heritage Insurance Company Kenya Limited, Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited, and Heritage Insurance Company (Tanzania) Limited. Acting as lead counsel, the team was responsible for navigating the merger control regime under Tanzanian law, including the preparation and submission of the merger notification to the Fair Competition Commission (FCC), as well as conducting regulatory analysis, advising on competition law implications, and liaising with the FCC to secure merger clearance. The transaction was led by Burure Ngocho and closed in April 2025.  

The firm also advised Harbor Investment Limited in relation to the proposed sale of its shares in Tanzania International Container Terminal Services to Adani International Ports Holdings PTE LTD. As lead counsel, the firm reviewed the share purchase agreement, attended negotiation meetings, prepared ancillary documents, and provided legal advice on the transaction. The transaction was led by Sadock Magai and closed in June 2024.
