Overview

The dispute resolution practice at Lee & Koh focuses on infrastructure disputes for highway concessionaires, corporate banking litigation and Islamic banking recovery for AmIslamic Bank. Partner Irwan Ismail spearheaded growth in the firm’s Islamic banking recovery practice by handling matters for AmIslamic Bank. The firm continues to advise concessionaires on legal issues involving accidents, trespassing and defamation on the highways they manage. Managing partner Koh Yew Chong is a key contact. Justin Leong is another lawyer to note.

Successfully obtained summary judgment in September 2021, though Bina Puri appealed and sought stay of execution. A subsequent restructuring of facilities with additional security over Wisma Bina Puri led to a third suit, where the bank faces res judicata arguments. Trial is scheduled for January 2026.
