Asia
The start of summer has brought a slight drought of moves in Asia's lateral market. All corners of the region experienced at least one notable hire this month, but China and Hong Kong remain most active.
Simmons & Simmons makes a splash, announcing a new office in Beijing. Anchoring the outfit will be Davis Wang, a corporate and TMT specialist plucked from King & Wood.
Another new firm in the Chinese market is Shanghai-based R&P China Lawyers, a commercial boutique that works with mid-sized overseas companies and Chinese subsidiaries of multinationals. Its principals hail from some of the PRC's top domestic players; for example, corporate specialist Maarten Roos was formerly at Wang Jing & Co Law Firm and employment lawyer Luo Ai was at Jun He Law Offices. Zhu Ye joins from Lehman Lee & Xu and litigation specialist Lu Zhiqian from Shanghai Talent Law Firm.
