South Africa proved one of the busiest EMEA markets last month. WHITE & CASE lost Johannesburg-based projects and finance partner Shamilah Grimwood to the Cape Town office of BOWMAN GILFILLAN. But it welcomed two heavyweights with a similar practice in the form of Bowman Gilfillan directors Joz Coetzer and Craig Whitley.

WERKSMANS also made a significant move hiring four additional directors to bulk up its finance and construction practices. The firm lured back former directors Chris Moraitis and Astrid Berman from Baker & McKenzie and recruited Absa Capital's corporate and investment bank counsel Peter Mason. The firm also raided Brink Falcon Hume for construction and litigation head Jason Smit.
