Short-selling judgment reveals future of EU financial regulation

A European court's rejection of a UK challenge to the EU short-selling ban is set to have wide-ranging consequences for the way the 28-nation bloc regulates its financial services.

The bellwether case saw Europe's highest court dismiss all four of the UK's arguments put forward in an attempt to limit the reach of Brussels' power. The judgment has cast doubt over London's ability to challenge such proposals in future.
