Which piece of legislation could have the biggest impact on the EU funds sector?

The fund sector has been on the receiving end of increased levels of regulation since the financial crisis. Much of it has been designed to create a better framework for transaction reporting, product governance and liquidity but also to protect investors. This last theme has been a key driving force behind many pieces of EU financial services legislation since the financial crisis.

This has been especially visible at EU-level, where a number of high-profile directives tackle – directly or otherwise – the issue of funds.
