Deals of the year

November 01, 2009

The most innovative, cross-border transactions and law firms in the Middle East last year

Normally if you get this many lawyers in a room it's a conflict of interest," commented one managing partner at the Middle East Awards 2009. Lawyers in the region still can't get over how many people turn out to the IFLR awards every year, held in the ballroom of the Burj al Arab in Dubai. "It's really the only time of the year that everyone is in the same room and gets to see each other," commented an English partner.

For awards that are truly objective, independent and transparent, they are remarkably popular. Some people go away disappointed, while others are pleasantly surprised. Congratulations and commiserations; and see you all next year.
