Educated in both the UK and Nigeria, Olufemi Oye completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Jos and then qualified as a barrister through the Nigerian Law School in Lagos. Having experience of both countries, studying and working in the UK had always been a possibility for Oye. Upon traveling to London, he completed an LLM at King's College with the intention of progressing on to a PhD. But the prospect of working had become more attractive.
Of course, UK and Nigerian law are somewhat similar, both being common law systems. Yet there are some big differences, with the Nigerian criminal code borrowing heavily from New South Wales, Australia, and (in the north of the country) shariah law having a strong influence. Regardless of this, Oye retrained with little difficulty.
