Bank of England's counsel; Jackson Taylor joins Latham from Cadwalader; And Andrew Tarbuck joins the firm in Dubai

Graham Nicholson has been appointed Chief Legal Adviser and Adviser to the Bank of England. As a corporate partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Nicholson has specialised in M&A and transactional work, including the restructuring of the Lloyd's insurance market in 1996. He will take over the role from Juliet Wheldon on January 1 2009.

Sebastian Gronstedt

Sebastian Gronstedt will join Frankfurt firm Haarmann Partnerschaftsgesellschaft Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater Wirtschaftsprüfer as partner. Gronstedt was previously partner at SJ Berwin, where he established the corporate real estate team. He joins Haarmann to expand the firm's services to real estate and notary work.

Jackson Taylor

Jackson Taylor has joined Latham & Watkins as a partner in the London office's restructuring and insolvency group. Taylor was previously at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft. He advised on the restructuring of both British Energy and Eurotunnel, and on the refinancing of Schefenacker.
