While China's ICBC has recently launched the biggest IPO ever seen, India too is rapidly turning from "a land of promise into a land of profits" delegates heard.

Herbert Smith's Ashley Alder, who chaired the first day of the two-day event opened the forum by highlighting the growth in population and GDP in both countries that has attracting so much attention.

Richard Nurmi of PwC and Patricia Sindel of Credit Suisse square up over accountant liability

Sessions over the two days considered hot topics such as the conflicts of interest when banks invest in companies before taking them public, the mechanics of simultaneous offerings on the Shanghai and Hong Kong exchanges, and the outlook for growing products such as high yield, Reits and corporate hybrids.

Lighter moments during the two days included Credit Suisse's Patricia Sindel and PricewaterhouseCoopers' Richard Nurmi donning boxing gloves at the beginning of their session on the role of auditors in the offering process.

More than 200 delegates attended the forum over the two days, reflecting the sense of opportunity that surrounds the investment banking and legal community in the region at the moment.

IFLR would like to thank the sponsors of this year's event for their support – Herbert Smith, Latham & Watkins, Kim & Chang, Amarchand Mangaldas, WongPartnership and Major Lindsey & Africa – and we look forward to another successful event next year.
