Sope is a Senior Associate in the Energy and Projects Practice Team and the Deputy Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Sector at the Firm.

With almost a decade of legal experience, she has negotiated multi-faceted oil & gas, power and renewable transactions and drafted the requisite legal and contractual documentation for these transactions. Her breadth of experience extends to managing the legal portfolio of Baker Hughes Company Limited, an oil servicing company as Operations Counsel covering 15 countries in its West Africa Geomarket. She also advises on a wide range of general commercial matters from general legal and contract advisory to real estate and employment relations. The result is that Sope has a truly versatile, well-rounded, in-depth legal expertise and business awareness.

Sope is passionate about Energy and Extractives Industries. She has facilitated trainings on Electricity Regulation in Nigeria: Off-grid Solutions and Renewable Opportunities; Insights, Challenges and Roadmap for Africa in the Global Energy Transition, Reimagining Legal Support in the Energy Transition Era, etc. She contributes to the discourse in the Energy ecosystem through series of thought leaderships on the proven catalysts for large-scale deployment of renewable energy, viability of State Electricity Markets in Nigeria, incentives and initiatives in Nigeria’s Petroleum industry, operationalising the Petroleum Industry Act, amongst others.

She holds an LLM in International Energy Law and Policy from the prestigious Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mining Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. She is also a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), United Kingdom, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN).

She was recently awarded the “Rising Star Award” in the 40 under 40 category of the ESQ Nigeria Legal Awards.
