Michiaki Hosoi is a Senior Partner at Atsumi & Sakai and has been a partner since 2009; he is a core member of the firm’s Finance Practice Group and Corporate Group, and is also a member of the Japan Wind Power Association. He has significant finance experience advising both Japanese and non-Japanese clients on domestic and cross-border transactions, including acquisition finance, real estate finance, asset finance, securitisation, project finance and debtor-in-possession finance.
He also has extensive energy/infrastructure experience, advising energy companies and funds on domestic and cross-border transactions, including Japanese regulatory advice, development of power plants and infrastructure, M&A of power plants (including due diligence), electricity retail businesses and energy resource aggregation businesses.

- Advised a major Japanese company on its M&A transactions, purchasing 53 onshore wind power plants in Japan.
- Advised a major British company on its M&A transactions, purchasing 10 offshore wind power plants in Japan.
- Advised a major Japanese company on its energy resource aggregation business (“ERAB”); ERAB is a new business that has yet to become popular in Japan. Assisted in structuring the transactions, dealing with regulatory issues and preparing necessary documents from scratch.
