Highlight 

Alta Legal advised the Republic of Guatemala, through the Ministry of Public Finances, on the placement of its first ESG bond issuance aimed at raising international funds to support key social and environmental initiatives. The proceeds are earmarked for projects focused on poverty and malnutrition eradication, improvements in health and education, and the promotion of employment and sustainable economic growth. Led by Partner Jose Quiñones and Associate Carlos García Sáenz, the transaction marks the largest bond issuance in the country’s history and represents a milestone in Guatemala’s commitment to sustainable development. Its legal innovation lies in aligning sovereign financing with ESG principles, setting a precedent for future public sector funding strategies.
