Consortium Legal’s Costa Rica office has incorporated the tax team of Batalla Salto Luna. This move brings 25 tax professionals, a group composed of five partners (including Diego Salto and Rafael Luna), an economist, a financial expert and an accountant, to the firm. With this move, Consortium Legal becomes the largest law firm in Costa Rica.

“For us, having access to a regional platform was one of the things we were looking at within the last few years. Most of the multinational enterprises doing business in Costa Rica and the Central American region see us as one single economic region," Salto said. "Additionally, many of these countries are going through deep tax reform, and Costa Rica is taking steps to be considered a member of the OECD. Nowadays a tax practice needs to be a regional tax practice. Joining Consortium gives us a chance to fulfill the needs of countries moving towards the region and those already in business in Costa Rica."

Consortium Legal expressed confidence that the move would improve the tax services the firm could provide to their clients. “These lawyers are the top tax law firm practitioners in Costa Rica," Mario Quesada Bianchini, Consortium Legal partner said. "They are a strong group of well-known professionals that will allow us to expand our services to our clients. Through the integration, Consortium Legal Costa Rica will expand its services to tax consulting, transfer pricing and tax litigation with the most recognized experts in the country."
