The winners of this year’s IFLR Middle East awards have been announced. For all deal, team and firm of the year winners, please see below.

Up to 250 of the region’s leading legal talent gathered at the top of the Burj al Arab in Dubai on October 8 for the annual IFLR Middle East awards.

The awards celebrate legal innovation and precedent in cross-border deals. A full write-up of the awards will appear in IFLR’s next issue, published in November.

Clifford Chance was the big winner on the night, taking home the International Law Firm of the Year award, along with the equity, restructuring and debt and equity-linked teams of the year awards. But it was an extremely close battle with Allen & Overy this year. Establishing itself as an emerging powerhouse in the Middle East, the firm scooped the M&A, project finance and structured finance and securitisation teams of the year awards.

HSBC’s in-house team was another star of the night, accepting the in-house team of the year award for its work on numerous stand-out deals over the past twelve months. Among others, it was lead manager and book-runner on the GACAsukuk, one of the mandated lead arrangers on the Port and Free World Zone restructuring and co-manager on TAQA.
