Linklaters partner Gary Barnett will head the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) new swaps division.

The CFTC announced yesterday the appointment of the New York-based partner who heads the firm’s US derivatives and structured finance practice. Barnett will start his new role next month.

The division of swap dealer and intermediary oversight was created in response to the agency’s new swaps authority under Dodd-Frank.
