Mark Cahn has taken over as general counsel of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Former general counsel David Becker has returned to Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton after two years in the position.

Cahn was promoted from deputy general counsel of the litigation and arbitration division, prior to which he was a securities litigation partner at WilmerHale.

There are also changes at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On Monday the FDIC announced that Chairperson Sheila Bair will step down on July 8.
