This was not a great year for anyone, law firms included.
Although they are always more cushioned from economic shocks
than their clients due to growth in the restructuring
and possibly litigation departments if those clients are
not making money then the firms aren't either. However, in
these hard times the best law firms retain their top spot,
often because of a flight to quality, and they retrench rather
