Kirkland & Ellis and Cadwalader head US restructuring list

Exclusive research by the IFLR1000 reveals that Kirkland & Ellis, Cadwalader, Simpson Thacher, Kasowitz Benson and Kramer Levin are the five most improved restructuring and insolvency firms in the US over the past five years.

As indicated in the table below, the five firms improved their position in the rankings by two positions from 2005 to 2009. With restructuring and insolvency lawyers taking over the spotlight from their corporate colleagues since the demise of Lehman Brothers in September 2008, these firms have shown the benefits of foresight.

Kirkland & Ellis made its move in the 2006 edition of the IFLR1000, moving from tier three to the top tier after the high-profile hires of Gordon W Johnson from Weil Gotshal & Manges and Rick Cieri from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
