James Hsiao

James is a senior partner of the Dentons Taiwan office with more than 20 years’ experience in cross-border transactional matters, offering expertise in handling regional joint venture and acquisition mandates.

His practice encompasses advising on the full spectrum of capital markets, M&A, private equity, acquisition finance, and real estate matters, including IPOs, securities offerings, private placements, block trades, and private equity investments. James specialises in outbound M&A for Taiwan-listed companies to acquire foreign-listed or private companies; inbound M&A for private equity firms or multinational companies to acquire Taiwan-listed or private companies; and cross-border securities offerings, including foreign companies to list on Taiwan securities markets and Taiwan companies’ IPOs or issuance of global depository receipts or European convertible bonds on foreign stock exchanges.

He regularly advises ‘bulge bracket’ investment banks and private equity funds. James is well respected as a ‘rainmaker’ in business and legal circles in Taiwan, and is well recognised for the quality, technical accuracy, and commercial nature of his advice.
