DLA Piper has hired Jasmine Zacharias to its Miami office as partner.
Zacharias works on borrower and lender-side financing, with a particular focus on private equity sponsor-side financing.
"It's a great platform, both nationally and globally," Zacharias said about her new firm.
"I originally trained in New York, and when I came down into the South Florida market my financing practice became a little more diverse, so I was still doing some private equity work, but not as much as I'd have liked to do. So when the opportunity came up at DLA, where the private equity team in particular here was looking for someone in finance who would be able not only to support their existing clients but also build out the private equity capabilities within the firm, it made sense for me to join."
Asked about the timing of her move, Zacharias explained that it was partially tied to how DLA has handled a highly active period for lateral moves.
"It’s been impressive how many lateral moves there have been, even just in this year. I think DLA has done a good job in the South Florida market of really strengthening their corporate practice here during that stretch, and I’d like to think I’m part of that strengthening.”
Zacharias joined DLA from Greenberg Traurig's Miami office.
