Arnold & Porter has hired Charles Yi to its financial services and legislative and public policy practices as partner.
Based in Washington DC, Yi spent the past four years as general counsel to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Yi was also previously staff director and chief counsel for the Senate Committee on Banking, deputy assistant secretary for banking and finance at the US Treasury Department and counsel for the House Committee on Financial Services.
Asked about what drove his decision to join Arnold & Porter, Yi pointed to the firm's unique platform.
"Arnold & Porter has a great, longstanding regulatory practice. It also has a legislative and public policy practice, and given my background, it was just a natural fit."

Speaking about his background in public service and returning to private practice, Yi mentioned that he would miss the kinds of leadership opportunities that he had at institutions like the FDIC, but that private practice offered many exciting new challenges and possibilities.

At Arnold & Porter, I hope to draw on my experience from the Hill and with the FDIC to advise a broad range of financial service clients.
