Global law firm CMS has received approval from Singapore's Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) for a formal law alliance (FLA) between its Singapore office and Holborn Law—a local specialist dispute resolution law firm.

The FLA will operate under the name CMS Holborn Asia, and is effective from September 1 2017 where it will focus on infrastructure, construction, energy, funds, telecommunications, technology and media matters.

Andrew Stott, managing partner of CMS Singapore said: "[T]he FLA broadens our offering to our clients based here and/or with operations in Singapore and takes the number of lawyers operating in Singapore to 30 from an initial team of three 5 years ago. That growth has been driven by client support for our sector-aligned model across our practice groups. It also cements our investment in, and commitment to, contributing to the growth of the nation as a hub for local and global businesses operating in the region."

The CMS Singapore office was established in 2012 and this latest expansion follows the recent three-way merger where CMS Cameron McKenna integrated with Olswang and Nabarro. It has over 28 lawyers who hold UK, Singapore, US, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysian qualifications.
