Arias Guatemala has hired banking partner José Pivaral in Guatemala City.
Pivaral focuses his practice on banking, finance and insurance. His hire brings the number of partners at the firm's country branch to seven.
Pivaral has served as President of the Chamber of Finance of Guatemala, President of the Banking Association of Guatemala, President of CACIF (Coordinating Committee for Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations), President of the Guatemalan Association of Insurance Institutions (AGIS), and President of the Association of Sugar Producers of Guatemala.
Arias is a regional firm with offices in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama. The firm used to be known as Arias & Muñoz, but the Muñoz brothers in Costa Rica split off from the firm in November 2016. This move did not affect the number of lawyers in the Guatemala office.
