Dentons López Velarde, the combination of Mexico-City based López Velarde and global firm Dentons, has opened an office in Monterrey by combining with Monterrey –based Canales Zambrano & Asociados. The wider firm has also opened in Barbados.
Gregorio Canales will act as managing partner of the Monterrey office, which will focus on M&A, and financings with specialties in energy, finance, trade, real estate and maquiladora manufacturing.
In Barbados the firm has hired Charles Gagnon, Rosalind Bynoe and Ruan Martinez from BCF to lead the new operation.
Dentons approved its combination with López Velarde in Decemer 2015. At the same time, the firm also approved a combination with Cárdenas & Cárdenas in Colombia. In December 2016, the firm made further headway into Latin America when it approved a combination Muñoz Global, which will allow the firm to step into Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua.
