Felsberg Advogados has rehired an insolvency partner to its São Paulo and recently opened Miami office.
Fabiana Bruno Solano Pereira, who worked at the firm untill 2013, rejoins the bankruptcy practice to assist with an increase in insolvency proceedings in Brazil. She moves from White & Case's Miami office.
“There’s potential for synergies between Miami, Florida and Brazil especially with arbitration and mediation," Solano said. "Florida has developed a very modern legislation, very arbitration friendly nowadays, this has opened up a lot of opportunities for foreign attorneys. There are also a lot of Brazilian investors and Brazilian wealth gong to Florida, and this is one of the areas we are developing in Miami right now.”
“I think the market has been improving a lot in terms of specification. So when we started doing bankruptcy, our solutions were simpler. Now, because of the profile of the debts, we are shooting for contracts and financial instruments that are much more sophisticated, touching capital markets, cross border litigation and so on.”
