The hiring streak at McGuireWoods continues. The law firm has added an experienced corporate and debt finance attorney, Mark Spitzer, to its office in downtown Los Angeles.
Spitzer, who previously practiced law at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, and at Bingham McCuthen until the latter’s merger with Morgan Lewis in 2014, advises financial institutions on many types of transactions including secured and unsecured syndicated credit facilities, debt financings, and restructurings.
McGuireWoods has been aggressively building its presence in several key transactional markets. Spitzer’s hiring comes just two weeks after McGuireWoods expanded its transactional practice in Tysons Corner, Virginia, with the hiring of a senior counsel. David Dargatis, who previously practiced law at global firm Arnold & Porter, advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, investments, and restructurings. His clients are active in many industries and sectors including financial services, life sciences, defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Yet another market in which McGuireWoods has made a significant investment is Pittsburgh. In May, Thomas Zahn, who previously practiced law at Jones Day in Pittsburgh, moved over to the McGuireWoods office there. Zahn advises private equity funds, and public and private companies, on M&A, joint ventures, divestitures, investments, recapitalizations, and corporate governance. At the time of his move, Zahn’s transactional record included acting as counsel to RTI International Metals in its $1.5 billion acquisition by Alcoa, and advising ConAgra Foods in its $4 billion joint venture with Cargill and CHS.
Spitzer holds a law degree from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University.
