Reed Smith has recruited a new partner in Beijing to strengthen its energy practice.

Jie Zhang joins the firm Norton Rose Fulbright where he was a partner advising on M&A, cross-border investment and related finance transactions.

“Our strategic aim remains to continue the growth of our corporate offering in Hong Kong and Mainland China and our global energy and natural resources sector focus,” says Michael Fosh, Reed Smith’s Beijing office managing partner. “Jie’s work in the energy sector will ensure that our clients have direct local expertise, with close links across our global platform, for their inbound and outbound investments.”

Jie started his career at legacy Fulbright & Jaworski in Washington DC before moving to Hong Kong and then relocating to Beijing to lead the firm’s office beyond its merger with Norton Rose. His practice is focused on the oil and gas, chemical and infrastructure sectors.

Reed Smith’s Greater China corporate team has over 50 lawyers, including in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, and works across energy and natural resources, shipping, life sciences, real estate and insurance.
