Ropes & Gray continues the aggressive expansion of its New York corporate and securities practice with the hiring of a partner from Schulte Roth & Zabel.
Michael Littenberg (pictured) advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets transactions. His large client base includes banks, funds, and public and private companies in the U.S. and abroad.
“Throughout my career, I’ve spent a significant portion of my time doing transactional work for funds, particularly transactions for private equity funds and their portfolio companies and illiquid investments made by hedge funds, and advising funds and their portfolio companies on securities law matters,” Littenberg commented. “As part of my practice, I‘ve also spent a good deal of time putting together both publicly traded and privately placed, and internally and externally managed, permanent capital vehicles for managers.”
In a discussion with IFLR1000, Littenberg reflected on the growing complexity of the funds space as increasingly sophisticated managers seek out diversified vehicles and products.
“One of the trends over the last several years, which is continuing, is that mangers are adding additional types of vehicles to their platforms, across a broad range of strategies. For example, hedge, private equity, registered funds and/or permanent capital within the same firm,” Littenberg added.
Littenberg holds a J.D. from Tulane University and a B.S. from Indiana University.
