Seyfarth Shaw, a Chicago-based global law firm, has taken a further step in the expansion of its corporate practice in New York with the hiring of a partner from a competitor.

Eric Simonson, who previously practiced law at Blank Rome, is now a partner in Seyfath’s corporate department in Manhattan. Simonson’s M&A and private equity transactions had a marked cross-border, and, specifically, Asian focus while he was at Blank Rome, which he joined in January 2012 from K&L Gates. Simonson also works in the emerging company and venture capital space. His hire comes hot on the heels of the recruitment of other transactional lawyers at Seyfarth’s New York office, including partners Howard Jiang and Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli in June 2015.

Simonson holds a JD from The University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree from Colgate University.
