King & Spalding has lured an experienced corporate and securities lawyer to its office in Atlanta.
Alana Griffin, who has worked previously at the Atlanta office as an associate and then as a counsel, returns to her former employer following a tenure as in-house counsel at Columbus, Ohio-based financial services company Synovus. Griffin had a wide brief at Synovus, encompassing financings, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and executive compensation. The value of financings and capital markets deals overseen by Griffin reached $3.5 billion.
Griffin's recruitment is not the first high-level hire by the firm this year. In January, Ye Cecilia Hong, who was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, joined King & Spalding’s financial institutions and finance practice as a partner in New York. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, Hong advises public and private borrowers and lenders in cross-border financing transactions, with a particular focus on distressed financings and restructurings.
Griffin holds a JD from Georgetown University and a bachelors degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
