Baker & McKenzie has hired a former Magic Circle managing associate to boost its debt capital markets practice in Singapore.

Pallavi Gopinath Aney joins from Linklaters in Singapore where she resigned in April this year from her position as managing associate in the firm’s India Practice Group. After the move, she will be handling Baker & McKenzie’s debt capital markets practice owing to her experience in the area.

Gopinath Aney has worked on numerous large capital markets transactions in India. She was part of the capital markets team at Linklaters that advised Suzlon Energy – the largest wind turbine supplier in India – on the country’s largest bond restructuring in 2014. That same year, she also advised – alongside Linklaters’ Singapore partner Kevin Wong - the joint lead managers in the $1.5 billion Tata Steel bond issuance – one of the largest financings and among the first few issuances of high-yield bonds from India.

Prior to joining Linklaters, Gopinath Aney worked at Pathak and Associates and S&R Associates.
