Greenberg Traurig has continued the expansion of its corporate, securities, and funds practices with the addition of a pair of shareholders dedicated to private funds and derivatives transactions, respectively. Both lawyers join in New York.

Anthony Perricone, who has practiced law at Katten Muchin Rosenman since December 2013, specializes in fund formation. His client base includes investment managers, private fund sponsors, and institutional investors. Nanette Aguirre, who comes to Greenberg from Schulte Roth & Zabel and has served as in-house counsel at Deutsche Bank, also has a broad transactional practice. Aguirre negotiates derivatives and trading agreements, structures derivatives transactions, and provides counsel on Dodd-Frank Act compliance and other regulatory matters.

“The representation of private equity and hedge funds, including those operating in the middle market, is one of our strategic growth areas. . . . Tony’s broad investment management practice coupled with Nanette’s extensive experience in regulatory matters relating to derivatives . . . provides greater depth and breadth,” said Richard Rosenbaum, Greenberg’s chief executive officer.

Greenberg has had its sights set on expansion in the corporate and securities realm for a considerable time. Recent months have been a period of rapid growth for the firm, which welcomed Edward Schultz as a shareholder from Edwards Wildman in Los Angeles on December 1, 2014. Schultz’s recruitment came soon after three other hires in L.A. – media and entertainment lawyers Tom Ara, John Maatta, and Rob Sherman – plus the luring of securities and finance shareholder Suzanne L’Hernault in New Jersey in August 2014. The firm expanded its offerings on the securities and REITs fronts earlier in 2014 year with the recruitment of former Alston & Bird lawyer Kamal Jafarina as of counsel in New York.

Perricone holds a J.D. from The George Washington University and a B.S. from Drexel University. Aguirre earned a J.D. from Rutgers Law School and a B.A. from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.
