Reed Smith has hired a new partner to add to its restructuring and bankruptcy practice in the city-state.

Troy Doyle joins the firm from DLA Piper, which has suffered another departure after a number of Asia exits in 2014.

Doyle advises on corporate and financial restructurings, distressed debt trading, mergers and acquisitions and covers insolvency issues across Asia.

Doyle is Reed Smith’s second Singapore hire this year, after partner Matt Gorman joined from Stephenson Harwood.

DLA Piper has looked to rebuild following the departures of Jolyon Ellwood-Russell who left for Simmons & Simmons, Ben Sandstad who turned in-house counsel for Standard Chartered Bank, and Giovanni Marino who joined US law firm Winston & Strawn. It did so by hiring former Gibson Dunn & Crutcher corporate lawyer John Viverito and energy and infrastructure counsel Myles Hankin.
