It is already shaping up as a busy year for Gowlings, which continues to expand its transactional practice in Toronto with a lateral hire from a competitor. The luring of securities lawyer Peter Simeon from Wildeboer Dellelce comes hot on the heels of the firm’s recruitment of corporate finance and mining lawyer Avril Cole, from Norton Rose Fulbright, in January. Earlier in January, the firm promoted transactional lawyers to its partnership, including corporate and M&A specialist Rob Blackstein in Toronto, corporate finance attorneys Maxine Mongeon and Frank Sur in Calgary, and capital markets specialist David Brennan in London.
Simeon advises companies, issuers, and underwriters on many kinds of deals including M&A, financings, private placements, IPOs, RTOs, secondary offerings, and share purchase transactions. Prior to practicing law at Wildeboer Dellelce, Simeon worked as an associate general counsel at Nortel Networks from November 2006 to June 2008. At yet another stage of his career, Simeon was an associate at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt.
Simeon holds an LLB from York University – Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.A. from Queen’s University.
