Watson Farley & Williams, a firm known for its work in the asset finance and shipping sectors, has enlarged its corporate and securities team in New York with the hiring of a partner. The hire is indicative of a move toward a broader corporate transactional practice, even as the firm continues to carry out deals in its traditional areas.

Adele Hogan is a founder of Hogan Law Associates and has practiced law at Sheppard Mullin, Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft, White & Case, Linklaters, Cravath Swaine & Moore, Willkie Farr & Gallagher, and Shearman & Sterling. In the course of her career, Hogan has worked on approximately 235 deals, totaling over $250 billion in value. Her practice encompasses M&A, equity and debt securities offerings, private placements, regulatory compliance, and restructurings in the banking, energy, transportation, hospitality, leisure, and real estate sectors. Hogan has written and spoken widely on corporate finance topics, from derivatives and structured products to private equity and hedge funds.

In a discussion with IFLR1000, Hogan mentioned the firm’s plans for expansion while stressing its continued commitment to its core practice areas.

“The firm is making investments in a number of areas, including the capital markets and corporate space. We are also going to continue to focus on maritime, energy, transportation, natural resources, and real estate law and provide service to clients we’ve traditionally worked with,” she said.

“My work in real estate involves a lot of securities work, or corporate transactions or 363 bankruptcy issues. I’ll be working with the corporate partner here, Steve Hollander, to build up the practice. Dan Rodgers, the head of WFW New York, has a deep corporate and securities background as well,” Hogan added.

Hogan holds a J.D. from Cornell University School of Law and a B.A. from the same university.
