Dacheng swoops down on Haworth & Lexon’s six-partner team in Shanghai

Chinese firm Dacheng Law Offices has brought in a team of six equity partners to strengthen its presence in Shanghai.

The six-partner-strong team – expected to join this month – arrives from fellow PRC firm Haworth & Lexon. The sixfold hire will also bring in eight associates alongside a number of paralegals and translators.

Recently Dacheng restructured its management team to resemble a structure more familiar with Western firms. It established a five-member supervising committee, an executive committee, and nominated a 17-member standing committee to oversee governance.

This opened the way for its historic tie-up with global firm Dentons through a Swiss verein structure, a form of voluntary association where members do not share commercial or professional liability for the debts or actions of other member firms and often do not share revenues or pool profits. The tie-up formed the world's largest firm by headcount.
