Peter Ackermann, partner of Zurich-headquartered Bill Issenegger Ackermann since 1996, has left private practice and joined asset manager responsAbility Investments as general counsel. Ackermann will remain an of counsel to his former firm, which has changed its name to Bill & Issenegger.
Bill & Issenegger’s core practices are M&A and financial markets. It now has a team of eight partners and ten fee earners led by Markus Bill and Urs Issenegger.
Ackermann speaks German, English and French and began his law career in 1990 with Sullivan & Cromwell as a foreign associate in its Paris and New York offices. His practice focuses primarily on corporate matters, M&A transactions, corporate restructurings, contracts, TMT, trust law and immigration law.
In 2013-14 he worked in teams that advised Belgium Bank on claims following the premature termination of transactions under ISDA Master Agreement triggered by a bankruptcy. He also acted alongside UK firm Taylor Wessing to defend a large German financial institution against a similar claim brought by an opposing party. Both cases saw the team create new guidelines for the interpretation of the ISDA Master Agreement in the context of bankruptcy.
Asset management firm responsAbility Investment is an independent manager that specialises in development issues in emerging jurisdictions and is 70% owned by Baumann & Cie, Raiffeisen Switzerland, Swiss Re Foundation and Vontobel Beteiligunge
