Just two days after announcing the hiring of partner Emil Infante in Miami on November 4, global law firm DLA Piper has recruited another transactional attorney, this time in Minneapolis.
Arleen Nand, who was previously co-chair of the agricultural finance practice at Faegre Baker Daniels, is now a partner in DLA Piper’s Minneapolis office. Nand advises investment banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, and companies on structured finance transactions, often with an agricultural financing component. Her broad transactional experience encompasses securitizations, credit facilities, convertible debt facilities, syndicated loan transactions, and asset-based financings. The assets securing the credit facilities she has worked on range from aircraft and ships to coal reserves, oil rigs, and rolling stock.
Nand has moved from a roughly 700-lawyer firm to a global giant with more than 4,200 lawyers in over 30 countries.
“I see deals getting larger and more complex and more multijurisdictional. My banking clients are increasingly funding multinational corporations, and they need a global platform,” Nand told IFLR1000.
Nand sees a market characterized by greater flexibility in terms of the deal types and products clients are willing to put to use. “We’re seeing a return to some of the pre-credit crisis structures. There still is a hesitancy on the part of bankers, but there’s a little of a loosening of the structures now that the economy’s rebounding,” she said.
Nand holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Washington.
