Crowell & Moring has expanded its ability to carry out cross-border deals involving Israeli companies, assets, and products with the appointment of an experienced partner as head of a new practice.
Sam Feigin, who joined Crowell & Moring in April 2014 from Nixon Peabody, is now head of the firm's Israel Practice, based in Washington. Feigin will oversee the representation of clients in many sectors and industries including tech, life sciences, energy, consumer goods, TMT, defense, and cybersecurity. Clients of the new practice include founders, start-ups, emerging companies, investors, and multinational corporations.
"I focus on this area because of my personal connection to Israel, coupled with the opportunity presented by Israeli companies working to penetrate the U.S. market," Feigin told IFLR1000.
Feigin said that from a regulatory standpoint, and regardless of the ultimate customer, clients need to interface with the U.S. government and sometimes with local governments. He identified Crowell's experience with government contracts and the firm's relationships with leading multinational companies, especially in the aerospace and defense sectors, as particularly useful in this regard.
"As press coverage reveals, Israeli companies continue to achieve great technological milestones and close deals, even amid an intense and complex geopolitical and military situation," Feigin added. "It's an extremely resilient sector driven by energetic, resilient people. Business has continued to forge ahead."
Feigin holds a J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law and a B.A. from Yale University.
