Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer private equity specialist Chris Bown is moving in house to join CVC Capital Partners. He is expected to retire from the firm at the end of the financial year before moving to the private equity house in May 2014.

Bown is Freshfield’s relationship partner for CVC and has acted on a number of deals in the past few years including the sale of shares in Formula One. He will join ex-Clifford Chance partner Richard Perris in CVC’s legal team.

The move follows that of US partner and CEO Ted Burke, who announced his departure in September. Burke is also joining the private equity sector taking up a position of general counsel at Arclight Capital Partners.
