Megan Tang spent the last five years with the US firms, working across the capital markets, corporate M&A and private equity practices on a number of transactions. She is now heading to the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and taking up the title of director in the corporate finance division. The division is in charge of SEHK listing-related matters, regulating offerings of unlisted shares and unsecured loan certificates, and finally policy-development on issues arising from the above two functions.
While at the firm, she also advised corporate and financial sector clients on regulatory issues including disclosure requirements, FCPA-related compliance, insider trading cases and other anti-corruption regulations. Prior to Cleary, she was a key partner in Shearman & Sterling’s Asia offices, having worked in both the Singapore and Hong Kong offices.
“Megan is a very talented lawyer and she will be a fantastic resource to the Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong. We will miss her, but we share in her excitement for this opportunity to perform an important public service. We appreciate the excellent contribution she has made to the firm and offer her our best wishes for the future,” said Cleary Gottlieb managing partner Mark Leddy in a press release.
Tang will begin work with the SFC in February 2014.
