Clifford Chance has formed an association with Indonesian local firm Linda Widyati & Partners (LWP) as it looks to strengthen its links in the country.
The UK firm, which had previously run all of its Indonesian work out of Hong Kong or Singapore, has transferred M&A head Jeroen Koster from the Netherlands to run the association.
LWP was established by Linda Widyati and Dezi Kirana, both former partners at Soemadipradja & Taher. The pair focus on banking and finance, capital markets and M&A work.
Peter Charlton Clifford Chance's managing partner for Asia Pacific said, "Indonesia is a strong and vibrant economy and represents an important jurisdiction for many of our clients, including in sectors such as energy and resources, financial institutions, insurance, consumer goods and retail and telecoms.”
The announcement follows similar moves completed recently by international firms including DLA Piper who allied with Ivan Almaida Baely & Firmansyah in May 2013 and Squire Sanders who linked up with Melli Darsa & Co in November 2013.
