Jones Day has hired the head of Clifford Chance’s automotive group, Johannes Perlitt, as partner in Frankfurt.
Perlitt, who made partner at Clifford Chance 14 years ago, is a corporate lawyer who specialises in public takeovers and the automotive sector. His recent transactions include advising Volkswagen on its merger with Porsche.
Head of Jones Day’s German offering, Ansgar Rempp said the firm had hired Perlitt because he will help the US outfit meet its target of becoming one of Germany’s leading corporate firms, adding that Germany was one of the most important markets for the firm.
Jones Day has three offices in the country, with the most recent launched in Dusseldorf in 2012, and 100 fee-earners based in Germany.
