Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has hired partners Anthony Raven and Simon Barrett – former heads at Hogan Lovells and Simmons & Simmons – to strengthen its energy and projects practice in Tokyo.
Raven, with 17 years’ experience in London and Tokyo, is experienced in advising international and Japanese clients in the development and project financing of major projects and in a range of upstream and downstream energy work. Barrett advises on energy and infrastructure projects in sectors such as power, water, transport, liquefied natural gas (LNG), chemical and petrochemicals.
Prior to joining Simmons & Simmons, Barrett worked alongside Raven at Hogan Lovells in Tokyo. The pair are English law qualified solicitors and registered foreign lawyers and have also spent time working in-house at Japanese companies.
Pillsbury’s double hire is designed to boost the firm’s presence in Japan, its international work for Japanese companies and its global capacity in energy and infrastructure.
