After a series of high-level partner losses Shearman & Sterling has begun to rebuild its London office with the capture of two partners from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Ian Harvey-Samuel and Lois Moore will join Shearman's London office in January, both as partners.
Harvey-Samuel resigned from Freshfields in mid-December while Moore resigned in October so that she could take advantage of Freshfields' pension terms.
Harvey-Samuel is a structured finance specialist and Moore joins the corporate team with a background in large, complex private M&A transactions, often of a cross-border nature involving non-UK clients.
With M&A specialist James Comyn having been promoted to the Shearman's partnership at the start of year, the hire of Moore has brought the firm's corporate team in London back up to six partners.
This recovery follows the high-profile losses of Adrian Knight, to Skadden Arps, and Jonathan Coppin, to Hogan & Hartson.
