Linklaters and Clifford Chance scoop Asia awards

Linklaters won international law firm of the year last night at IFLR’s annual Asia awards in Hong Kong. The firm was also involved on two winning deals as well as being shortlisted in five out of the seven team of the year categories.

"Linklaters has had a fantastic year and I congratulate them on their success," said IFLR managing editor Tom Young.

Clifford Chance was also celebrating after picking up the prestigious China practice award, which rewards international firms for their innovation within China. The firm was also named restructuring team of the year, and was involved in two winning deals

It was a good year too for Latham & Watkins which won the most innovative US law firm award as well as project finance team of the year. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer picked up the equity team of the year award, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe structured finance and securitisation team of the year and Weil Gotshal & Manges private equity team of the year.

Australian Prudential Regulation Authority chairman, John Laker was named as recipient of IFLR’s award for services to financial regulation. Baring Private Equity’s Pius William Hay was presented with our outstanding in-house contribution award at the ceremony in Hong Kong’s Island Shangri-La hotel.

Hong Kong’s corporate governance advocate, David Webb secured the inaugural market reform award, which recognises individual our readers believe to have made the most significant contributions to market reform in the past year.

HSBC secured in-house debt and equity-linked team of the year and Goldman Sachs was named in-house equity team of the year.
